Bolingbrook – About 150 people participated in the second annual “Celebrating Women … Beauty and Health” event, hosted Nov. 6 by Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.

A joint event between the hospital and the Lemont Chamber of Commerce, “Celebrating Women” was held at the Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont. Thirty-four local vendors took part, sharing information about wellness, health and beauty, as well hosting various demonstrations for attendees, said Kathleen Sievertsen, director of service line development at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.

Among the events that evening was a Zumba and CORE exercise demonstration by the Lemont Park District and a fashion show put on by the Second Chance Thrift Shoppe, featuring people from Garden Center Services.

Garden Center Services works with children with developmental disabilities.

“That was really the hit of the night,” Sievertsen said. “It really made the evening so meaningful to everyone who attended.”

Also presenting that evening was Dr. Buthaina Jabir, who spoke on nutrition and health. Jabir is a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also a member of Adventist Health Partners.

“Throughout the evening, we also had the opportunity to showcase a lot of the services that Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital has to offer,” Sievertsen said.

Among those sponsoring this year’s event were the Jeffrey La Morte Salon & Day Spa, Franciscan Village, The Olive Tap, The Lemont Park District CORE, PT Solutions, Second Chance Thrift Shoppe, Timberline Knolls and Walgreens.
