Hinsdale – Ronald M. Wehtje has accepted the position of regional senior vice president/chief financial officer for Adventist Midwest Health, officials announced today. The position becomes effective Dec. 6.
Wehtje, 48, brings to the organization a wealth of experience in healthcare leadership at the executive level and a proven track record of solid financial stewardship.
“Ron possesses the expertise, work ethic, and personality to perform this job in an exemplary fashion,” said David L. Crane, president and chief executive officer, Adventist Midwest Health. “He is known as a hard worker, with extensive experience in financial efficiency, mergers and acquisitions, and market expansion both in healthcare as well as in the textile industry.”
A certified public accountant, Wehtje comes to this job from Orlando, Fla.-based Adventist Care Centers, where he served as executive vice president/CFO since 2004. There he oversaw a number of important business expansions, a complete legal reorganization of the division, and several operational improvement initiatives. Adventist Care Centers provide long term care, nursing home, and subacute services in Florida, Kentucky, Texas, Tennessee and Kansas.
“Despite these tough economic times, Adventist Midwest Health is in strong shape financially and will continue to thrive as a healthcare provider of choice in the competitive Chicago market,” Wehtje said. “We will have many opportunities to grow while staying true to our mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ.”
Wehtje is in the process of relocating to Hinsdale. He and his wife, DeAnn, have three adult children, Alisha, Ashley, and Blair, who currently reside in Florida and Tennessee.
Wehtje’s appointment marks the successful conclusion of a nationwide search for qualified candidates; more than a dozen people were interviewed for this position. A key member of the executive team, the chief financial officer assumes a strategic role in the overall management of Adventist Midwest Health, which includes Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. Wehtje will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the organization.
Wehtje replaces Janice Hagensicker, who is now the chief financial officer for the Tampa Bay Market of Florida Hospital/University Community Hospital, part of Adventist Health System.
