Hospital foundation hires planned giving director

Hinsdale – The Hinsdale Hospital Foundation has hired its first planned giving director, former Hinsdale Hospital Foundation board member and Hinsdale resident Mary Klingenberger. A 27-year year veteran of the banking industry, Klingenberger most recently served as the regional president for Harris Bank Hinsdale and its surrounding communities.

While serving on the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation board, Klingenberger was a key leader and fundraiser for the foundation’s digital mammography initiative. The $3.2 million campaign brought the latest technology in breast cancer detection to the hospital’s DuPage Imaging Center. Digital imaging has the potential to detect breast cancer at an earlier stage than traditional X-ray mammograms, and early detection is a key factor in breast cancer survival. Klingenberger intends to bring planned giving to the next level.

“As tax laws change and the ways that people donate change, planned giving becomes a very important part of our foundation,” Klingenberger said.

In addition to soliciting funds, Klingenberger will create an advisory board and develop material on planned giving to inform people on what options may be best for them.

“We are very excited about Mary Klingenberger joining our foundation team,” said Susan King, Hinsdale Hospital Foundation’s Executive Director. “Her experience in marketing and management are truly an asset.”

Klingenberger believes in the very mission she serves. Fifteen years ago, she came to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital for pre-natal care and also was treated in the hospital’s emergency room.

“Supporting the hospital we care about by leaving a legacy in our name is critical,” Klingenberger said. “It is the future of our continued success and we will continue to build and strive for that within the foundation.”

Since 1986, Hinsdale Hospital Foundation has furthered Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s mission on ensuring quality healthcare through philanthropy. The foundation encourages and receives contributions from individuals, corporations and private foundations to enhance patient care initiatives, technological advancements, medical education, facility upgrades and expansion and programs that reach out into the community.
