Adventist Hinsdale Hospital hosts Christmas Concert Series
Hinsdale – Adventist Hinsdale Hospital welcomes the community to its 2013 Christmas Concert Series, with performances scheduled throughout the month of December.

The series of concerts opened Dec. 2 with The Hinsdale Chorale, and continued Dec. 5 with a performance by Cantaté.

Each show is free, and the public is invited to attend along with their family and friends.

At 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation Junior Board will perform in the Edna and Russell Harvey Atrium at the hospital, 120 N. Oak St.

At 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, The Jolly Boys will provide entertainment, and then at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, the Schaumburg-based Spring Valley Concert Band will come to the hospital with a holiday ensemble.

The Hinsdale Adventist Academy Chorus & Bells will put on a show starting at noon Tuesday, Dec. 17. The series closes off at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 with the Hinsdale Fil-Am Seventh-day Adventist Church Choir Cantata.

The concert series is sponsored by the Adventist Midwest Health Healing Arts Program.

“We invite everyone to come out and celebrate the Christmas season with us,” said Tricia Treft, pastoral care manager at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. “What better way to spend time with our friends and neighbors than with beautiful music performed by these outstanding community groups?”

The Healing Arts Program includes musical performances in Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s atrium as well as visits to patients at Adventist Hinsdale, Adventist La Grange Memorial and Adventist Bolingbrook Hospitals from a certified music practitioner harpist.

Other programs include rotating art galleries and a portable art cart with art supplies for patients to use at the bedside. It has been proven that engaging in art related activities can ease a patient’s anxiety and, potentially, their perception of pain.
