What to Expect During Your Procedure

What to expect during your procedure

At Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, patients are given thorough instructions from their physician in advance of their procedures. Patients are asked to arrive one hour before the procedure so a brief health history and general assessment can be obtained. Patient dressing rooms with lockers are provided; patients wear hospital gowns for their procedures. An IV will be started for sedation during these procedures to provide comfort and relaxation.

Upon completion of the procedure, physicians consult with the patient and family regarding diagnosis and treatment. The recovery phase is approximately an hour.

Pediatric patients are admitted to the pediatric floor for their endoscopy procedures. Pediatric nurses will obtain a brief health history and general assessment of the patient. Children will wear a gown in their private room. An IV will be started for sedation during the procedure. Children remain with their families before and after the procedure.
