Got prayer? Hospital chapel to host 24/7 prayer experience

Bolingbrook – For the second year in a row, the chapel at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital will be transformed into an around-the-clock weeklong house of prayer. From June 15 to 22, physicians, employees, patients, and the community are invited to come here to reflect on their prayers and dwell in God’s presence.

“One week of continuous prayer is an opportunity for us to partner with the community to pray for physical, emotional and spiritual needs,” said Kathy Mitchell, chief nursing officer at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. “As a faith-based organization, we recognize that there are so many people who are in need of prayer.”

There will be a variety of interactive and reflective prayer experiences with a volunteer “prayer guardian” available for individual prayers around the clock.

“The house of prayer is an interactive experience in which people can write down or reflect on their prayers in God’s presence,” said Vicky Syren, manager of pastoral care at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.

The hospital’s first weeklong house of prayer took place April 28 to May 5, 2008. The 24-7 prayer movement started in Great Britain in 1999 (

Church youth groups, Bible study groups or other volunteers looking for a service project are invited to reserve time slots to staff the house of prayer at .
