Thank you for choosing Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital for your testing. Below is some information that may help you prepare for your test.
It's important to bring a list of medications you are taking with you on testing day.
To get accurate results, you should not eat or drink anything for 9 to 12 hours before your tests. You may drink water, but other beverages such as coffee, tea, or soda should be avoided.
Your health care provider may tell you to stop taking drugs that can affect the test. Never stop taking any medicine without first talking to your doctor.
Your Cardiac Test
Treadmill Stress Test & EKG
- Wear comfortable pants and shoes
- Do not drink or eat caffeine containing products morning of test
- Eat a light breakfast
- Bring a list of your medications
- Check with your physician regarding holding any Beta Blocking medication the morning of the test
This test takes approximately 45 minutes. You will walk on a treadmill.
Pulmonary function tests
Do not smoke for 4 - 6 hours before the test. You'll get specific instructions if you need to stop using bronchodilators or inhaler medications. You may have to breathe in medication before the test.
Audiology & Visual
No special preparation is needed
Do not wear deodorant, perfume, powders, or ointments under the arms or on the breasts on the day of the mammogram. These substances may obscure the images. Remove all jewelry from your neck and chest area. Notify your health care provider and the radiologist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Bone scan & Ultra Fast Heart Scan (Calcium Scoring)
You must remove jewelry and other metal objects. You may be asked to wear a hospital gown.
