Free, Smoke-Free Solutions program offered

 

Hinsdale, IL –The DuPage County Health Department is offering a free seven-session Smoke-Free Solutions program at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, 120 N. Oak St., Hinsdale.

            The program is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, starting Jan. 16 and continuing through Feb. 27. Based on proven behavior modification techniques, the program is taught by a trained Health Educator and covers topics such as:

·         Nicotine addiction vs. habit

·         Healthy lifestyle choices

·         Smoking triggers

·         The importance of planning ahead

·         Quitting techniques

·         Dealing with emotions and stress

·         Maintenance

·         Nutrition and physical activities

·         Symptoms of recovery

·         Social situations

The program offers participants a step-by-step plan to quit smoking. The small-group format encourages participants to work through the process and difficulties of quitting smoking together.
