Bolingbrook – Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Deborah Lyon, RN, of Plainfield, as the new nursing manager of the Intensive Care Unit. She is responsible for staffing the 12-bed unit and ensuring that policies and procedures are up to date.
“Although the hospital’s only been in existence for two years, we’ve earned a reputation for quality care,” said Lyon, who joined the hospital in June as a clinical coordinator. “Everyone I’ve met at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital is firmly committed to patient care and safety.”
Lyon grew up in Joliet and Plainfield and earned her associate’s degree in nursing from Joliet Junior College. She is certified in advanced cardio pulmonary life support training for adults and for children.
Lyon has more than 10 years of experience in critical care nursing, including five years in e-ICU, or electronic intensive care. She served as nursing team leader for Resurrection Health Care, where she helped to implement an electronic intensive care unit; nurses were able to speak to and assess patients through cameras.
“I was the liaison to the bedside staff and helped set up work flows,” Lyon said. “Working with administration, physicians and nurses, we determined how to best utilize staff to provide quality patient care.”
Lyon also worked in critical care transport. She began her career at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. She and her husband Jon Lyon, a resource manager, have five children ranging in age from 4 to 22.
“My husband was born and raised in the Bolingbrook area and he’s excited that I’ll be working to improve health care in the area,” Lyon said.
