Pediatric Rehab Center collecting shoes for Haiti
Media contact: Lisa Parro, senior public relations specialist, Adventist Midwest Health 630-312-7508 Lisa.parro@ahss.org

Hinsdale – Adventist Paulson Pediatric Rehabilitation Center is collecting shoes for children in Haiti. New shoes should be dropped off by April 23 at the center, 222 E. Ogden Ave., Hinsdale. The center is located in the rear of the building.

Athletic shoes, flip flops, and Crocs of all sizes are needed. Used shoes will not be accepted.

The center is partnering with New Hope Ministry in Naples, Fla., which will ship the shoes to children in Haiti’s schools and orphanages. The 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti Jan. 12 devastated the country, leaving 1.3 million homeless. Even prior to the earthquake, without shoes children were unable to attend school. The incidents of injury and diseases from lack of shoes has skyrocketed since the earthquake.

“Our hearts go out to the people in Haiti – particularly the children – struck by this natural disaster,” said Carla Pister, manager of Adventist Paulson Pediatric Rehab Center. “We care for children every day and welcome the opportunity to extend the healing ministry of Christ to the kids in Haiti.”

Adventist Paulson Pediatric Rehab is an outpatient pediatric rehabilitation department of Adventist Hinsdale Hospital treating children up to age 18 with cerebral palsy, developmental delays, autism and speech disturbances, among other needs. The center’s mission is to help each child and family reach his or her highest level of independence. Call 630-856-2600 for more information.
