Adventist GlenOaks Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Yvonne Losey, RNC, BSN, as director of the Special Additions Birth Centre. Losey heads the labor and delivery, mother and baby, level II nursery and childbirth education units. Her appointment was effective June 16.
“Nursing has always been my passion,” said Losey, who has been in the profession for more than three decades. “In my opinion there is no better place to work than in the OB unit of a hospital.”
Losey is responsible for implementing strategic and business plans, ensuring patient safety, quality care and managing the budget.
Losey, who has a degree in nursing from Jamestown College in Jamestown, N.D. comes to Adventist GlenOaks Hospital from Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, where she was a nursing manager for three years.
Losey and her husband, Garry, both share a bond with Adventist Midwest Health; he is the chaplain manager for Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. The couple has two children and will be celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary this fall.
Although Losey’s vocation is near and dear to her heart, this Plainfield resident loves to travel to Europe with her older brother. The two usually take a minimum three week vacation to a European destination that they study about throughout the year. Upon arrival they travel by foot and train to discover their newest quest. Losey has been to approximately 10 countries, and plans to revisit Austria this fall.
“There is just too much beauty in this world to not get out there and explore it,” she said. “Traveling to these different countries has helped fortify my life to be so much more enriching.”
