Glendale Heights – Adventist GlenOaks Hospital is the lead sponsor for a community breakfast highlighting the 62nd annual National Day of Prayer on May 2.
David Sitler, pastor at the Glen Ellyn Seventh-day Adventist Church, will give the event’s keynote address. The theme of the 2013 National Day of Prayer is “Pray For America.”
The breakfast runs from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday, May 2 at the Glendale Lakes Golf Club, 1550 President St. in Glendale Heights. This is the 14th year Adventist GlenOaks Hospital has sponsored the National Day of Prayer event, participating along with other community groups.
Tickets are $20 per person, or $200 for a table of 10. For veterans and active duty military, tickets are $15. Seating is limited, so please RSVP by April 27 by calling (630) 856-7525, or by visiting www.keepingyouwell.com/aghprayer.
Bruce C. Christian, chief executive officer of Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, said the prayer breakfast is a natural outgrowth of the hospital’s faith-based mission.
“This annual event is a wonderful opportunity to foster unity and to encourage prayer by all faiths in America,” Christian said.
David Sitler has been a Christian for 28 years and a pastor for 19, serving Seventh-day Adventist congregations in Texas, California and, for the past 11 years, in Illinois. He has worked in Elmhurst and is currently working with the Glen Ellyn and West Central churches.
In December of 2011, Sitler suffered severe burns while on a mission trip with his family in Nicaragua. In answer to the prayers of many, he has made a full recovery that still baffles the medical personnel that treated him.
Sitler has a bachelor’s degree in theology and an MDiv from the Andrews University Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, Mich.
The event’s other sponsors include: Addison Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce, Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce, Glendale Heights Chamber of Commerce, Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce and Allegra Marketing/Print/Mail of Glendale Heights.
