Glendale Heights – National health and fitness expert Andrea Metcalf will share tips for healthy living and growing your business at the third annual Women’s Health and Business Symposium. The event, sponsored by Adventist GlenOaks Hospital and the Dynamic Women’s Professional Network (DWPN), will be held April 29 at Abbington Banquets, 3 S 002 Route 53, Glen Ellyn. Admission is free.
Metcalf is a fitness expert for NBC Chicago, contributor to Oprah.com, and author of the newly released book “Naked Fitness.” She owns her own production company utilizing social, print, and traditional broadcast media. At the symposium, Metcalf will offer women practical wellness tips for better health and overall body satisfaction.
“Women, as caregivers, put everyone in front of them: their spouses, children, friends and people at work,” Metcalf said. “We wear so many hats that we lose track of taking care of ourselves. But if we’re not taking care of ourselves, we simply can’t take care of anyone else.”
The exhibitor area will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include more than 100 interactive booths. Food, shopping, massage, wellness information and education, prizes and raffles will be available during this time. A drawing for a 64GB Apple® iPad ($689 value) will be held in the speaker and food area at 2:30 p.m. The winner must be present.
The first 100 attendees will receive health screening vouchers valued at more than $600 (redeemable May to December 2011). The screenings will include a total lipid panel, glucose, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, EKG and personal lifestyle evaluation and consultation. Attendance at the 11 a.m. “Five Ways to Feel Good in Your Own Skin: Secrets to Naked Fitness” session with Metcalf is required.
During that session, Metcalf will encourage women how to take “naked” stock of their lives and how to build on the positive and eliminate the negative. She will then show them how to assess their back and spine for better alignment and less discomfort. Metcalf also has time-saving strategies for adding more fruits and vegetables in the diet.
At 1:30 p.m., Metcalf will present “How Get Your Business on TV and Leverage Social Media to Do It.” Metcalf, a Chicago resident who grew up in the western suburbs, is looking forward to both sessions.
