Get empowered at Women’s Health & Business Symposium

Glendale Heights – Women can enjoy educational health and business information sessions and take advantage of mini-spa treatments, health screenings and gift shopping, along with prizes and giveaways at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital’s upcoming Women’s Health & Business Symposium, scheduled May 1 at the Hilton Chicago/Indian Lakes Resort, 250 W. Schick Road, Bloomingdale.

“Women can leave their stress behind and spend a day focusing on their needs, both personal and professional, just in time for Mother’s Day,” said Tina Marie Johnson, marketing manager of Adventist GlenOaks Hospital.

There will be an exhibitor area open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. providing free health screenings for women, mini spa services, raffles, food and more. Lunch and dinner presentations are also available, but require reservations as seating is limited. 

Entrance to the event is $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The fee benefits the GlenOaks Hospital Foundation, American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement. Several physicians who treat patients at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital will address contemporary health topics. The featured lunch presenter is Dr. Leela Rao, oncologist, who will discuss “Navigating Breast Health Issues in the 21st Century.” Featured dinner presenter is Dr. Aziz Ahmed, interventional cardiologist, who will explain “Heart Disease and Today’s Women.”

In addition, Dr. Gary Barsky, dermatologist, will present “Erase Away the Years with Skin Rejuvenation.” Dr. Steven Smith and Dr. Michael Sichlau, interventional radiologists, will present “The Latest Treatment for Varicose Veins & Uterine Fibroids.”

Special guests are Lisa Dean, Mrs. Illinois America 2008; and Melissa McGurren from WTMX 101.9 FM The Mix. Dean, an author and motivational speaker, will share with women how to dream big dreams and be that someone who makes a difference. McGurren is a radio personality from the Eric and Kathy Show.
