Media contact: Lisa Parro, senior public relations specialist, Adventist Midwest Health, Lisa.parro@ahss.org

Hinsdale – More than 150 families touched by Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are expected to attend a reunion sponsored by the hospital and the Birck Family Women and Children’s Services. The 15th annual Neonatal Graduate Reunion is scheduled 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12 at The Community House, 415 W. Eighth St., Hinsdale. Parents of children who were treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are invited. To register, call (630) 856-7525.

This year’s theme is “Wild West Adventure.” A raffle will take place at 2 p.m. Other activities include games, crafts, storytelling and a special performance by the “Twin Girls Rock” band. The band features 11-year-old La Grange Highlands twins Courtney (on drums) and Arden (on electric guitar) Kurhayez. The girls were born prematurely in 1999 weighing just 1.11 and 1.8 pounds. Grateful for their care, the Kurhayez family attends the reunion every year.

“If it wasn’t for the doctors and nurses at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, my children would not be who they are today,” said the twins’ mother, Laura Kurhayez.

The Birck Family Women’s and Children’s Center is a comprehensive program providing top-level maternity and neonatal care at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. The center offers a Level III Neonatal ICU to stabilize and provide intensive medical and surgical care for critically ill newborns. The Maternal Fetal Medicine Center provides state-of-the-art care to women with high-risk pregnancies. Adventist Hinsdale Hospital has been a leader in maternity care since the turn of the century.
