Biblical counselor headlines National Day of Prayer service

Glendale Heights – Adventist GlenOaks Hospital is proud to sponsor a community breakfast highlighting the 61st annual National Day of Prayer. Karin Syren, CTACC, a strategic planning coach and biblical counselor, will give the keynote address. This is the 13th year Adventist GlenOaks Hospital is sponsoring the event along with other community groups.

The event is scheduled from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at the Glendale Lakes Golf Club, 1550 President St., Glendale Heights.

Syren has been a biblical counselor for 13 years and is an instructor/curriculum developer at Life Changes Bible College in Hoffman Estates. She is on the editorial staff of Inspired Women Magazine and has authored several books, including “The Bible Minute.”

The event will also feature a musical performance by Marilyn DeStefano, a social worker at Adventist GlenOaks Therapeutic Day School and former professional singer with Lyric Opera of Chicago.

The theme of the 2012 National Day of Prayer is “One Nation Under God.”

Bruce C. Christian, chief executive officer of Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, said the prayer breakfast is a natural outgrowth of the hospital’s faith-based mission in the community.

“This annual event is a wonderful opportunity to foster unity and to encourage prayer by all faiths in America,” said Christian.

Tickets for the public are $20 per person or $200 for a table of 10. The cost is $15 for veterans and active duty members of the military. Seating is limited. Please RSVP by calling 630-856-7525 or visiting www.keepingyouwell.com/aghprayer by April 27.

The event’s other sponsors are: Kiwanis Club of Addison, Addison Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce, Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce, Glendale Heights Chamber of Commerce, Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce and Allegra Marketing/Print/Mail of Glendale Heights.
