Hinsdale, IL – Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s 11th Annual Memorial Garden Planting and Walk to Remember will be 3 to 5 p.m. June 8 at the hospital, 120 N. Oak Ave., Hinsdale. Families who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or shortly after birth are invited to plant a flower in the garden in memory of their lost loved one. The garden provides a special healing place to remember the babies.
Participants will be invited to take part in readings, music and moments of reflection. A dove release ceremony also is planned and children will be invited to participate in an age-appropriate activity to remember their lost siblings. A walk to a nearby park will follow. Nearly 100 people are expected to participate this year.
“Since its inception in 1997, the Memorial Garden Planting and Walk to Remember has really grown and has become an important healing event for so many families dealing with the loss of an infant or child,” said Rosmarie Roose, R.N., coordinator of the Still Missed program, a support program at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital for families who experience pregnancy loss.
