Adventist previews Bolingbrook hospital
BOLINGBROOK — Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital offered a glimpse of the future facility last week.
The 138-bed, $150 million hospital is scheduled to open in fall 2007, and hospital officials said it's on schedule and on budget.
They also discussed details of the medical complex while giving local government officials and other guests a tour of the construction site last week.
One noteworthy feature of the facility is that individual departments will be expandable to accommodate growth.
"We know that the west suburbs are growing," said Christer DelaCruz, spokeswoman for Hinsdale-based Adventist Midwest Health. And, creating room to grow "is one of the considerations that architects had and administrators had in designing this hospital."
The 300,000-square-foot hospital is being built on a 49-acre site. Patient amenities will include private rooms, flat-screen televisions and wireless Internet access, hospital officials said.
The building is designed with separate hallways — one for staff and another for patients and their families.
Medical features will include a 20-room emergency department, telesurgery technology for less invasive operations, and a fetal monitoring system accessible from remote locations.
