Adventist Midwest Management Services appoints first CFO

Adventist Midwest Management Services and Adventist Health Partners are pleased to announce the appointment of as Erik “Rik” Baier, MHA, CMPE, as chief financial officer. The appointment was effective June 27.

Baier holds a master’s degree from the University of Iowa and a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting. Prior to joining Adventist Midwest Management Services, Baier was working for Culbert Healthcare Solutions as an interim CFO for Northeast Georgia Physician Group. Baier has held several management and leadership roles. He served as chief operating officer of DuPage Medical Group, executive director of M&M Orthopedics and senior director of finance for Advocate’s MSO.

Baier was attracted to the CFO position because he feels the future of healthcare will revolve around physicians working very closely with the local hospitals.

“Rik will bring to us an exciting level of financial and operational acumen that will allow our finance department to achieve our goals as we further grow and develop our physician partnerships through Adventist Health Partners, Adventist Health Network and the work of Adventist Midwest Management Services in the years to come,” said Pam Williams, chief executive officer for Adventist Midwest Management Services and Adventist Health Partners.

As the new CFO, Baier’s responsibilities are to help solidify the finance department and gain a better understanding of the physician group while allowing it to grow with confidence from both the physicians and Adventist Health System.  Baier believes that his background, in both finance as well as operations, gives him a unique perspective in the physician world.

“I believe that Adventist Health Partners and Adventist Midwest Management Systems are in a great position to prosper in the changing times of health care,” Baier said.“Being part of a large organization allows physicians to have stability in an ever-changing healthcare environment. It allows physicians to take care of patients and be confident in the fact that their offices will be well run.”

Adventist Midwest Management Services and Adventist Health Partners employ more than 160 physicians who treat patients at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.

Baier is based at the Tallgrass office in Bolingbrook.
