Adventist Midwest Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Williams to the position of regional controller.
Williams, a 60-year-old Westmont resident, was hired in 2006 by Adventist Midwest Health as charge services manager and has served as director of reimbursement since 2008. After Williams’ prior experience as interim controller, he has proven he is the right person for the job.
As regional controller, Williams will oversee the accounting, charge services, decision support and reimbursement functions for Adventist Midwest Health’s four Illinois hospitals as well as many of the same functions for Adventist Midwest Health’s critical-access hospital in Chippewa, Wisc.
Williams was introduced to the healthcare industry as a young child observing his mother working in a hospital laboratory.
“My gift isn’t patient care because science is not my thing,” Williams said. “But, when my high school French class was canceled, I was invited to take a bookkeeping class instead. I enjoyed bookkeeping so much that I chose accounting as a career and ended up working in the finance side of healthcare.”
Williams is a certified public accountant and earned a master’s degree in business administration. His office is based at Adventist Midwest Health’s Tallgrass office in Bolingbrook.
“Working for an organization that extends the healing ministry of Christ, bringing healing and hope to people in distress makes my work meaningful and worthwhile,” Williams said.
