Adventist Lab Partners has achieved accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), a 50-year association of board-certified pathologists. This is the first time the lab has been certified as a region, instead of on an individual basis at each of the individual campuses of Adventist Midwest Health’s suburban Chicago hospitals.
“Being certified on a regional level proves we have conscious continuity of care across the board,” said Cheryl Wiberg, regional administrative director of laboratory services.
Adventist Lab Partners services Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.
During the accreditation process, inspectors examined laboratory records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years. Inspectors also reviewed laboratory staff qualifications, as well as the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program, record and overall management of the laboratory.
This stringent inspection program ensures the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients as it means the laboratory has gone beyond customary regulation compliance. Obtaining a CAP accreditation makes Adventist Lab Partners one of more than 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide.
“Our goal is to offer state-of-the-art, full-service, clinical testing facilities that provide the highest quality health care services,” said Dr. Dino U. Vallera, medical director of Adventist Lab Partners. “We stress customer service, quality, accuracy and, above all, patient safety. Receiving this accreditation demonstrates we are meeting our goal.”
Adventist Lab Partners services are available without an appointment and with quick delivery of results. Those services include routine lab testing, anatomic pathology, molecular diagnostics, special coagulation studies and cytopathology as well as a full-service donor center.
Besides routine testing, Adventist Lab Partners also has a special coagulation lab, which provides fast, convenient testing for bleeding and clotting disorders. Blood can be drawn at any location and the sample will be sent for a special reading.
In addition, Adventist Hinsdale Hospital serves as a full-service blood donor center. Patients can have blood drawn and stored if they have a surgery scheduled or make donations for family members, friends or the general community. Off-site blood drives are also held on a monthly basis to help keep local blood banks supplied.
Pathology services are provided by DuPage Pathology Associates, which has 15 board-certified pathologists on staff. For information on locations or hours, visit http://www.keepingyouwell.com/CareServices/LabServices.aspx.
