Hinsdale – Shawn O’Connor Tyrrell has accepted the position of Regional Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer for Adventist Midwest Health and Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer for Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. The position becomes effective in mid-June.
Tyrrell has more than 20 years of nursing leadership experience, most recently as vice president, Nursing Services at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where she has worked since 2000. She has proven to be not only a strong clinician, but a visionary leader who advocates for outstanding patient care at every level.
“Shawn is regarded as a nursing industry leader and has earned the respect of her peers,” said David L. Crane, president and chief executive officer, Adventist Midwest Health. “We are confident that her passion for nursing will assist us in truly transforming lives at the bedside.”
Prior to Rush-Copley, Tyrrell served as vice president of patient care services at West Suburban Hospital Medical Center in Oak Park for six years. Before that, she worked for seven years as vice president of patient care services at Edward Hospital in Naperville.
Tyrrell has worked to increase patient and employee satisfaction and has achieved top national performance targets for national patient safety goals and clinical core quality measures.

Tyrrell received her associate degree from Triton College, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Lewis University and her master’s degree in nursing, specializing in maternal/child health, from Loyola University. She received her master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Northern Illinois University.
A resident of Naperville, Tyrrell has three children and is active in her community
