Adventist Health Care at Home, the home health agency of Adventist Midwest Health, has been identified as one of the top 25 percent high-performing home health agencies in the U.S.
Adventist Health Care at Home was named to the 2011 HomeCare Elite, a compilation of the top-performing home health agencies across the country. Winners are ranked by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, process measure implementation and financial performance.
“This prestigious recognition solidifies our reputation not only in the community but on a national stage,”
said Candise Van Dyke, director of Adventist Health Care at Home. “It also validates our continuous process improvement.”
Adventist Health Care at Home provides nursing services, as well as physical, occupational and speech therapy to adults in Cook, DuPage, Kane and Will counties. Home services are generally offered following a hospital stay or to those recovering from injury. The agency served more than 3,400 clients in 2011.
The HomeCare Elite recognition comes as Adventist Health Care at Home launches an improved patient assessment process. The agency developed care assessment templates to help clinical staff assess patients in a more consistent manner. As a result, the process is more efficient and patients are better assisted in their recovery.
“As we look ahead to 2012, we find that our resolve to improve our quality of care is even stronger,” Van Dyke said. “Our goal is to provide care that completely meets the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients.”
The 2011 HomeCare Elite is the only performance recognition of its kind in the home health industry. The list is compiled by OCS HomeCare, the leading provider of homecare information, and DecisionHealth, publisher of the newsletter Home Health Line and the home health diagnosis coding manual. The data used for this analysis were compiled from publicly available information.
“It is increasingly challenging to manage the cost/quality equation. The 2011 HomeCare Elite winners demonstrate a commitment to providing patients with the best possible care while managing their business efficiently and effectively,” said Amanda Twiss, chief executive officer of OCS and My Innerview. “This year, we updated our methodology to reflect industry focus and, based on this rigorous analysis, we congratulate Adventist Health Care at Home on being one of the top home care agencies in the country.”
