Adventist GlenOaks Hospital walkers raise funds for American Heart Association

Glendale Heights – Adventist GlenOaks Hospital employees were among the more than 300 Adventist Midwest Health employees and their families who raised $28,902 for the American Heart Association’s Metro Chicago Start! Heart Walk, held Sept. 27 at the Esplanade at Locust Point in Downers Grove. A fun corporate and family event with 1 and 3-mile walk routes, the annual Heart Walk raises vital funds for research and education.

In the past, the four suburban hospitals of Adventist Midwest Health participated individually; this is the first year employees from all campuses came together as “Team Adventist Midwest Health.” Walkers surpassed the organization’s goal of raising $15,000.

“The Heart Walk is a great example of what we’re capable of accomplishing when we work together for a common cause,” said Ted Paarlberg, director of Adventist Cardiac Network and Business Development for Adventist Hinsdale Hospital.

Since 1924, the Chicago-based American Heart Association has helped protect people from heart disease and stroke, the nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers.
