Adventist GlenOaks Hospital named 2011 Business of the Year

Glendale Heights – Adventist GlenOaks Hospital was recognized as the 2011 Business of the Year by the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce. The award was bestowed at the chamber’s annual awards banquet, held Dec. 8 at the Hilton Chicago, Indian Head Lakes Resort. More than 170 people attended the banquet.

“As an exceptional hospital we do more than simply treat patients, we are a caring, active member of the community we serve,” said Bruce C. Christian, chief executive officer of Adventist GlenOaks Hospital. “We are truly humbled and honored to receive this honor and are looking forward to meeting the region’s health care needs for generations to come.”

The Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce has been giving out the award since 1995. Nomination forms go out in October and are due a month later. Former winners, two board members and the chamber president then vote on the winner.

“Adventist GlenOaks Hospital is instrumental in the success of many chamber programs including ‘50 Men Who Cook,’ our annual golf outing and our student-to-business partnership,” said Jane Hove, president of the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce.  “We truly appreciate their support and look forward to continuing to work together for the good of our community.”

For more than 30 years, Adventist GlenOaks Hospital has provided highly personalized, compassionate care in Chicago’s western suburbs. A team of more than 300 outstanding physicians admit and treat patients at the hospital and its Level II trauma center.

In 2011, the hospital installed a digital mammography system, the latest available diagnostic technology for increasing the early detection of breast cancer and also remodeled the mammography suite to be more patient-centric. Earlier this year, Adventist GlenOaks Hospital also went live with Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE), where physicians actually place orders directly into patients’ electronic medical records, eliminating paper, reducing errors and decreasing the amount of time elapsed from physician order to patient care.
