Glendale Heights – Adventist GlenOaks Hospital has recognized five physicians for their dedication to the hospital’s mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ to everyone. Value awards were bestowed in the areas of Christian service, excellence, integrity, inclusiveness and stewardship.
“Each one of these five physicians lives the mission of our hospital by demonstrating extraordinary service beyond their everyday medical responsibilities,” said Adventist GlenOaks Hospital Chief Executive Officer Bruce C. Christian. “They demonstrate their personal values through their work with patients, family and hospital staff. Each places the needs of the patient first. They are great listeners and effective leaders.”
Dr. Daniel O’Reilly, neurologist, was given the Christian service award.
“I was very humbled to receive a service award at an institution where so many people serve,” O’Reilly said. “The award is a daily reminder that I need to reflect Christ in my interactions with staff, and especially with my patients.”
Added Christian: “Extending the healing ministry of Christ sets a high standard that our physicians, nurses and staff have to strive for.”
Dr. Linda Chan, a specialist in pulmonary medicine, was given the award for physician excellence.
“It was a great surprise and I am very honored to receive this award,” Chan said.
Dr. Uzma Syed, a specialist in endocrinology, received the award for inclusiveness. She believes that physicians are part of a team and she consistently asks for input from nurses, social workers, other staff members and the patient’s family.
“This award recognizes not just my efforts but the efforts of all persons at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital striving to provide and meet the standards of care for the management of diabetes. Hopefully in the near future we will emerge as one of the leaders in diabetes management,” Syed said.
Dr. Charles Lin, who has a focus in family medicine, is the winner in integrity.
“As a doctor, I try to treat every patient as if I were treating my family or how I would like my family to be treated,” Lin said. “I will continue to do my best within my practice and to provide excellent care to all of my patients.”
Dr. Ram Ramani, a specialist in infectious diseases, received the stewardship award.
“I was deeply honored with the award I received from the Adventist GlenOaks Hospital team and for believing I deserved it,” Ramani said. “I hope to continue to do my part and serve the hospital in its needs.”
