Hinsdale, IL – More then 2,000 people are expected to attend this years Cancer Survivors Day event, “Celebrating a New Day,” hosted by Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. This event will be held on Sunday, June 22, at Brookfield Zoo, 3300 Golf Road, Brookfield.
The speaker, Lynn DaCosse, is a stand-up comedian, mother of four and a two-year survivor of stage IIB breast cancer. DaCosse, a Carol Stream resident, went through surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation before finally defeating cancer.
“My mother died of stage IV breast cancer,” DaCosse said. “As a survivor, I will definitely be ‘one of their own’ up there on that stage.”
DaCosse will perform a hilarious half-hour, one woman comedy show, “Life with the flaps down,” about the absurdities of motherhood and struggles of battling cancer. She honed her improvisational comedy at Second City’s Player’s Workshop in Chicago.
All survivors who received treatment at Adventist Hinsdale or Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospitals are welcome to attend Cancer Survivors Day. The event is free to the survivor and one guest, including one free parking pass. Additional guests may pay the zoo admission, and children under age 3 are free.
