Hinsdale – Adventist
20th annual Still Missed memorial service will take place at 7:30
p.m. Oct. 28 at Hinsdale United Methodist
Church, 945 S. Garfield Ave., Hinsdale.
Organized by the hospital’s Still Missed support program, the event commemorates
the lives of babies who died through miscarriage, stillbirth or shortly after
birth. To reserve a spot, call (630) 856-4497. More than 150 community members
are expected to attend.
A bell choir will perform and banners will be on
display featuring the names of babies who died before their time. Families are
encouraged to share a personal story or poem and all participants will receive
a keepsake photo frame and white rose. A children’s activity also is planned.
“Since its inception in 1988, the Still Missed
memorial service has really grown and has become an important healing event for
so many families dealing with the loss of an infant or child,” said Rosmarie
Roose, R.N., coordinator of the Still Missed program.
The program has several support
groups that meet on a regular basis. The Still Missed Parent Support Group
meets from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at Tupper Hall, 119 N. Oak St.,
directly across from the hospital. It is designed to help parents cope with the
grief associated with losing a baby. The Still Missed Spanish-speaking Parent
Support Group meets quarterly at Tupper Hall. The next meeting is 7:30 to 9
p.m. Nov. 10. The Subsequent Pregnancy Support Group meets from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
on the third Monday of the month at Tupper Hall. For more information, contact
