Adventist Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency Faculty

   

Zewdu Haile, M.D.
Program Director, Designated Institutional Official

Dr. Haile completed his residency at the Royal College of Obstetrics/Gynecology in London, England in 1990.  He also completed a family medicine residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago in 1995.  He then served as faculty at the Mount Sinai Family Practice Residency until 2004.  He joined the Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency in 2004 as faculty and Medical Director. In July 2014, Dr. Haile became Program Director.

Clinical Interests: Evidence-based medicine and office procedures.

Tony Atkin, A.M, LCSW
Teaching Faculty

Tony received his graduate education at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration.  His career spans more than 30 years and has included private practice, supervision, and management positions in a number of agencies.

Clinical Interests:  Adults and adolescents with ADHD.

Elizabeth S. Bockhold, M.D.
Teaching Faculty

Dr. Bockhold completed her family medicine residency training in 2011 at MacNeal Hospital-Family Medicine Residency in Berwyn, Illinois. Following her residency, she joined Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency (HFMR) as a full-time core faculty.

Medical School: Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Maywood, IL
Clinical Interests: Pediatrics & women’s care, preventative medicine, procedures, and resident education.
In her spare time, Dr. Bockhold enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter, reading, cooking/baking and hiking.

 

Kate Gunnell, M.D., MPH, FAAFP
Medical Student Education Director

Dr Gunnell completed her residency in Family Medicine at University Hospital/Case Western Reserve University in 1993. After completing a Fellowship in Maternal/Child Health at Brown University in Providence, RI, she went to Boston and earned a Master’s in Public Health at Harvard University in 1995. Returning to sweet home Chicago, Dr Gunnell served as teaching faculty and Director of Obstetrics in Family Medicine with Rush-Illinois Masonic Family Medicine Residency. She joined the Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency in 2003 where she is currently the Director of Medical Student Education.

Clinical Interests: Patient Advocacy, Community-Oriented Primary Care, Women’s Health, International Medicine, Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (Faculty Advisor and Instructor).

Alyssa Jeanne Vest Hart, D.O.
Teaching Faculty

Dr. Alyssa Jeanne Vest Hart completed her residency in Family Medicine at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, Illinois. She spent 1 year completing a Maternal Child Health Fellowship at PCC Family Health Center, a  Federally Qualified Health Center in Chicago, acquiring additional training in high risk obstetrics, operative obstetrics and newborn care. She stayed on at PCC Austin Family Health Center and was faculty for the West Suburban Family Medicine Residency for 4 years and became the Medical Director of PCC Austin. Dr. Hart joined Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency as Core Faculty in 2014. In July 2015 she was appointed the Osteopathic Program Director. Dr. Hart finds teaching residents and medical students very fulfilling. She enjoys providing full scope care to her patients and their families.

Antoinette (Toni) Lullo, D.O.  
Teaching Faculty

Dr. Lullo completed her residency at the Cook County-Loyola-Provident Family Medicine Residency Program in 2007. She then graduated from PCC's Maternal Child Health Fellowship Program in 2008, which provided additional training in high risk obstetrics, surgical obstetrics, and newborn care. She remained at PCC as Co-Director of the Maternal Child Health Fellowship for 3 years. In 2012, Dr. Lullo moved with her family to Santa Clotilde, a remote village in the Peruvian Amazon, where she practiced full-scope family medicine in a rural health center for 3 years. Upon her return, Dr. Lullo joined Hinsdale Family Residency as Core Faculty in 2016.

Leslie Sleuwen, M.D.

Dr. Sleuwen completed her residency in 1998 at Deaconess Family Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.  After finishing her training, she joined the faculty at Deaconess Family Medicine.  Shortly thereafter, she moved to Chicago and joined the teaching faculty at Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency in 1999. She became the director of maternity care in 2002 and is currently the director of resident education.

Medical School:  University of Missouri, Columbia, MO
Clinical Interests: Women’s health, patient education and pediatric obesity.

Krystle Gadrinab-Jones, M.D.
Teaching Faculty

Dr. Gadrinab-Jones completed her residency at the Adventist Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency (HFMR) in 2015. After Dr. Gadrinab-Jones completed her residency, she stayed with HFMR as part-time faculty and joined AMITA Health Medical Group. Dr. Gadrinab-Jones is practicing family medicine in Romeoville, IL and is on staff at AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Bolingbrook.

Darin Jordan, M.D., MBA
Teaching Faculty

Dr. Jordan attended Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL and received his MD in 1997. He went on to complete his residency at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital Family Medicine Program in Hinsdale, IL. Dr. Jordan also earned a Certificate of Medical Management from the American College of Physician Executives in 2009 and his MBA at the University of Massachusetts, Isenberg School of Business in 2011. Currently Dr. Jordan is the Chief Medical Officer for AMITA Health Medical Group. He also serves on and leads numerous committees within the AMITA Health System. Additionally, he now serves on the State of Illinois Physician Advisory and Peer Review PMP Committee and is an Assistant Professor at Rush Medical College in Chicago.

Margaret Kirkegaard, M.D.

Dr. Kirkegaard completed her residency at Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency (HFMR) in 1992.  She joined the HFMR faculty following her residency.

Leo Koenig, M.D.

Dr. Koenig completed his residency at Lutheran General in 1977.  He has been a member of the Hinsdale Family medicine Residency (HFMR) since 1978.

Nida Malik, D.O.

Dr. Malik completed her residency at the Adventist Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency (HFMR) in 2016. After Dr. Malik completed her residency, she stayed with HFMR as part-time faculty. In addition to teaching residents and medical students, Dr. Malik enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Thomas V. Mallidi, M.D.

Dr. Mallidi completed his residency at the Adventist Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency (HFMR) in 2015. After Dr. Mallidi completed his residency in 2015, he stayed with HFMR as part-time faculty and joined AMITA Health Medical Group. Dr. Mallidi is practicing family medicine in Hinsdale, IL and is on staff at AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Hinsdale.

Laura Norman, D.O.

Dr. Norman completed her residency at Adventist Hinsdale Family Medicine Residency in 2016 and served as chief resident during her third year.  Upon graduation, she joined a practice affiliated with Amita in Downers Grove and became part-time faculty with the residency.

Christopher Q. Stephan, M.D.

Dr. Stephan completed his family medicine residency from St. Joseph Hospital Family Medicine Residency (affiliated with The University of Illinois College of Medicine) in 2007. He joined HFMR as a part-time faculty in 2010 and is currently practicing family medicine with AMITA Health Medical Group in Hinsdale, IL. Dr. Stephen is on staff at AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Hinsdale.
