Foundation names first board members

Bolingbrook – The Bolingbrook Hospital Foundation announced today that four community members have joined its board of directors: Patricia Claar, Michael Evans, Ron Hawkins and Dr. Michelle Kosik. The foundation furthers the hospital’s mission through philanthropy.

“We are honored to have such a dedicated group of community leaders to serve on our board,” said Derek Cazeau, executive director of the Bolingbrook Hospital Foundation.

Claar, a longtime Bolingbrook resident who is married to Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar, is assistant principal of curriculum, instruction and assessment at Bolingbrook High School. She also is chairman of the board of Heart Haven Outreach, a Bolingbrook-based nonprofit organization that serves high school teens and families experiencing difficult times. In addition, she served as an officer and one of the founding board members of the Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation and a founding member of the Chamber of Commerce’s former Women’s Expo.

Evans, a Bolingbrook resident, is executive director of the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the Valley View school board, was charter president of the Exchange Club of Bolingbrook and was board director of the DuPage County Convalescent Center.

Hawkins, a Bolingbrook resident, is vice president/national ombudsman of McDonald’s USA, LLC. He serves on the building committee for his church, St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church in Aurora, and is a former board member of the DuSable Museum in Chicago. Hawkins involvement with Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital began with his involvement in a community fundraiser for the hospital foundation before the hospital opened in January.

Kosik is a surgeon who treats patients at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Rush University Medical College in Chicago and is board certified in general surgery.

“The foundation is fortunate to have such a stellar group of people helping guide us in our very important future fundraising projects,” said Rick Mace, chief executive officer of Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.
