The Adventist La Grange Family Medicine Residency is dedicated to the education of physicians in the science and art of Family Medicine including community and family health promotion, research and professionalism. This residency emphasizes preventive, comprehensive and continuous health care for diverse patient populations, treating patients with compassion, integrity, high quality, attention to spiritual needs, and cost effectiveness.
The Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency program began in 1976. As the only residency at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, the program enjoys an excellent working relationship with the hospital, based on open communication and mutual respect.
Backed by an impressive faculty, led by Director Jennifer W. Swoyer, D.O., residents work through a challenging curriculum and rotations that allow them to develop outstanding clinical skills and a compassionate attitude.
For seventeen years, La Grange Family Medicine Residency has provided integrated care-co-management by residents with a clinical psychologist of our patients’ mental and behavioral health needs. Weekly joint counseling sessions are available to the residents for their patients with the psychologist who is on site five days a week and also serves as a consultant to the treatment teams. There is an additional educational benefit because these co-managed patients are presented twice a month in a behavioral science case conference.
Located in La Grange, Illinois, just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital has maintained a high level of medical excellence in the community. The 223-bed facility opened a new patient care facility in 2006, a five-story addition with private rooms, expanded waiting areas and state-of-the-art medical technology. Residents enjoy complete access to these advanced technologies.
