Your First Visit and Wound Assessment

La Grange wound assessment

When you first come in to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital’s Wound Care Center, our staff will perform a wound assessment, assess your general health, and review your medical history. When treating hard-to-heal wounds, staff specialists often order some initial blood tests as this helps to make accurate recommendations for a personalized wound care treatment plan. Your medical history and test results will allow our staff to put together a plan for your wellness. This one-time process often takes several hours in order to ensure a thorough wound assessment and treatment plan.

At Adventist La Grange, wound assessment is performed by a team of experienced medical professionals and you will have a dedicated doctor who will be available to speak with you and your family about your wound care treatment program. When treating hard-to-heal wounds, we also work closely with your primary care physician and can deliver periodic updates to keep your doctor informed of your progress.

Insurance for Treating Hard to Heal Wounds

Most often, Medicare and Medicaid reimburse for approved procedures associated with treating hard to heal wounds. Many health plans cover the Wound Care Center treatment, including the initial wound assessment, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, special shoes, dressing selection and patient education. Your coverage depends on your specific plan. Be sure to bring your insurance cards with you when you visit the center.
