Qualifications

• Age requirement – You must be at least 14 years old and have entered your freshman year of high school.
• Time commitment – We request four daytime hours or two evening/weekend hours of service weekly.
• Dependability – It’s important that you are reliable and responsible. We count on you and so do the patients.
• Belief in volunteerism and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital – Our volunteers believe strongly in the importance of their work. Their commitment is reflected in the quality of service they provide and the fulfillment they receive from helping others.
• References – We require two personal references.

Process

• Upon completion of an application, all prospective volunteers must attend a general orientation.  Orientations
• are held each year in January, March, May, September and November.  Contact Volunteer Services at 708-245-8100 for exact times and dates.
• Following orientation, an interview is scheduled with each prospective volunteer.
• Assignments are based on your preferences, interests, skills, time commitment and the hospital’s current needs and availability. Dependent on availability, not all volunteer applicants will receive an assignment. The assignment hours may vary based on need.

Training

No experience is required for most assignments. Training for all assignments will be conducted by a selected volunteer or hospital staff member.
