Family Medicine Clerkships

The Adventist La Grange Family Medicine Residency program is pleased to offer family medicine clerkships to third and fourth year medical students. Clerkships run for four or six weeks and are a combination of clinics, lectures and seminars, group discussions, home health care, hospice and meetings with faculty.

We rotate four to five medical students at a time. We currently have 22 medical students a year from Rush Medical College, 6 medical student a year from Loyola School of Medicine and 6 medical students a year from Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.

In addition to core clerkship slots, we offer two M4 elective options. Option one is an IM-Sub Inpatient service rounding with a senior resident on family medicine service and in clinic. Option two is an ambulatory out patient family medicine where students will experience the wide range of provision of health care by family physicians from indigent care clinics to private attending offices, home health care, hospice and other community resource centers, under the supervision of supportive faculty, residents and medical staff.

To be eligible, medical students must currently be enrolled in a United States ACGME accredited medical school and highly interested in pursuing family medicine as a career.

The elective is available during the months of August, September, October and November only in a four-week block.
