Family Medicine Clerkships

The family medicine residency program is pleased to offer family medicine clerkships to third and fourth year students.  Clerkships run for four or six weeks and are a combination of clinics, lectures and seminars, group discussions, meetings with faculty and labs.

A total of 24 students may participate -- 6 in the third year and 8 in the fourth year.  Two full-time faculty members and six part-time faculty members are involved with the program.

In addition to core clerkship slots, we offer an elective in ambulatory family medicine at our residency program to fourth year medical students.  To be eligible, medical students must currently be enrolled in a United States ACGME accredited medical school and highly interested in pursuing family medicine as a career.

The elective is available during the months of August, September, October and November in a four-week block.  Students will experience the wide range of provision of health care by family physicians from indigent care clinics to private attending offices, home health care, hospice and other community resource centers, under the supervision of supportive faculty, residents and medical staff.
