Still Missed memorial service set for Oct. 30
Hinsdale – Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s 25th annual Still Missed memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Hinsdale United Methodist Church, 945 S. Garfield Ave., Hinsdale.

Organized by the hospital’s Still Missed support program, the event commemorates the lives of babies who died through miscarriage, stillbirth or shortly after birth. To reserve a spot, call (630) 856-4497. About 200 community members are expected to attend.

The event – which takes place during National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month – will include special music and banners featuring the names of babies who died before their time. All participants will receive a silver heart memento. A children’s activity also is planned.

“We’re going to be sharing our stories of love through the 25 years,” said Rosmarie Roose, R.N., coordinator of the Still Missed program. “It will be the story of Still Missed, and because they mean so much to us, the stories of all the babies.”

The theme for this year’s event is “Love.” Families who have been with Still Missed throughout its 25 years will be invited to share their stories, Roose said, and there will be a reflection on the founding of the organization.

Still Missed has several support groups that meet on a regular basis. The Still Missed Parent Support Group meets from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at Tupper Hall, 119 N. Oak St., directly across from the hospital. It is designed to help parents cope with the grief associated with losing a baby.

The Subsequent Pregnancy Support Group meets from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on the third Monday of the month at Tupper Hall.

The Still Missed Spanish-speaking Parent Support Group and the Grandparent/Family Support Group meet quarterly at Tupper Hall.
