Hinsdale – Brenda Boldt puts the service in supplies for Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. As a service representative in materials management, formerly known as the central supply department, Boldt helps stock the hospital floors and surgical units with everything from dressings to gowns and gloves to masks. She deals in trays, tubing for IV pumps, as well as combs, toothpaste and mouthwash. With more than 1,200 products to track, Boldt saves nurses time and effort by bringing supplies to them.
“We have a small warehouse with everything the hospital needs,” said Boldt, a resident of Romeoville. “I help with data entry, scheduling and managing the stations on the floors. I set up the supply stations with the nurses’ names and IDs so that they can have everything at their fingertips. They press a button, something like a vending machine.”
For her work in helping create a secure and efficient supply system, Boldt was named the hospital’s 2010 Employee of the Year.
“Brenda is my go-to person,” said Brandon Senesac, Boldt’s supervisor and manager of the warehouse at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. “She comes in every day with the same positive attitude. She’s an expert in helping out on the floors, and she’s always willing to help her co-workers. If she comes into contact with patients, she smiles, says “hi,” and holds the door open for them. She is the epitome of what you want in an employee.”
Boldt said she was “very surprised” to receive the honor.
“I’m just doing my job,” she said. “I’m blessed to be part of a good team of people and to work for an organization with such an inspiring mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ.”
Boldt recently completed a huge project ahead of schedule. She set up a par cart for every nursing unit and they are restocked daily. Nurses no longer have to call for supplies when they run low.
Boldt is originally from Sheridan, Ill., near Ottawa. Her aunt Twylah Region, who lives outside Sheridan, works with her in material management at the hospital. Boldt is a graduate of Broadview Academy in La Fox, Ill., a Seventh-day Adventist academy that is now closed. She is married with a 13-year-old daughter and attends Hinsdale Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Boldt was recognized at Adventist Midwest Health’s annual Employee of the Year celebration, held Feb. 10 at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Oak Brook. Each Employee of the Year receives a plaque and a $1,000 check.
