Hinsdale – In what has become an annual tradition,
Santa Claus visited Adventist
Hinsdale Hospital
patients Monday afternoon. Jolly Old Saint Nick and Mary Kelling, president of
the hospital’s volunteer board, handed out toys, games, ornaments and other gifts
to patients old and young.
Rich Deuter has served as the hospital’s Santa on a
volunteer basis for about 15 years, but his connection to Adventist Hinsdale
Hospital goes back even further than that – he was born here 60 years ago.
Deuter was raised in Hinsdale but now lives in Woodridge and also serves as
Santa for the Woodridge and Lisle park
districts. At the hospital, most of the patients he visits are adults.
