Whether you suffer from chronic knee pain or worry that diabetes management means forsaking summer favorites, Adventist Midwest Health has the answer.
Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, in partnership with the Oak Brook Park District, will present “Suffering From Knee Pain?” at 6:30 p.m. June 1 at the Oak Brook Park District Central Park West Building, 1450 Forest Gate Road, Oak Brook. Dr. Paul Trksak, an orthopedic surgeon who treats patients at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, will discuss a new robotic partial knee resurfacing treatment. This minimally invasive procedure is an alternative to a full knee replacement for people with one-sided knee pain. The presentation is free.
Spice up summer meals with new dishes that will please diabetics and non-diabetics alike. Laura “Chef Laura” Valcour, a chef instructor with Willowbrook-based Chef for a Day, Inc., presents “Summer Sizzlers: Manage Your Diabetes Without Giving Up Foods You Love!” She will prepare simple, yet healthy and flavorful meals for participants to try. In addition to enjoying a Thai Chicken Wrap or Tilapia Vera Cruz over brown rice, participants can enjoy a free diabetic screening hosted by Adventist Lab Partners, as well as light refreshments. The presentation is free. It will take place at 6:30 p.m. June 8 at the Oak Brook Park District Central Park West Building, 1450 Forest Gate Road, Oak Brook, and 6:30 p.m. June 15 at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital’s Dixon Education Center, 5101 S. Willow Springs Road, La Grange.
