Hospital welcomes new emergency department doctor

Glendale Heights – David Lamont, D.O., an emergency medicine specialist, has joined the emergency department staff at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital. Lamont, of Chicago, comes to the hospital from St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island, where he was associate medical director. He is board certified in emergency medicine.  He is also holds certifications in advanced trauma life support, advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support and has been a clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine since 2004.

“Dr. Lamont is a welcome addition to our staff,” said Joseph Shanahan, M.D., medical director of emergency services at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital. “With the opening of our new emergency department, we are continuing to grow our medical staff to accommodate the increased patient volume.”

The hospital’s Shanahan Emergency and Trauma Center, a $7 million facility that opened in June 2007, is centered around a unique concept – there is no waiting room. Upon arrival, patients are escorted directly to a private treatment room where they are promptly treated. The center includes 19 private, spacious treatment suites that consist of primary exam suites, cardiac exam suites, trauma and pediatric suites as well as psychological exam rooms.

Lamont earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y., and earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000.

In addition to Lamont’s medical achievements, he is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and the American Osteopathic Association and his research has been published in several medical journals.
