Hospital names nurse of the year

Glendale Heights, IL – Adventist GlenOaks Hospital is pleased to name Lilia Tumolva, RN, BSN, CCRN, as its Nurse of the Year. The award is presented annually during National Nurse’s Week, which was May 5-9 this year.

Tumolva, who works in the intensive care unit/critical care unit, has been in the health care field for almost 30 years and is well known for her commitment to patient care and nursing education. She has worked at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital since 1989.

“Lilia comes in on her days off for anything that needs to be addressed,” said Jacqueline Conrad, the hospital’s vice president/chief nursing officer, reading Tumolva’s nomination form. “Patient care is Lilia’s number one priority and she has a way of making her patients feel very important.”

Added Michelle Nordquist, nurse director assistant: “Lilia Tumolva is the reason the Nurse of the Year award was created.”

Tumolva always seeks to learn more about new technology, tips she shares with fellow members of the hospital’s nursing staff, Conrad also noted.

For Tumolva, the best part about being a nurse is helping sick people get well.

“Seeing my patients get better and go home – that makes my day,” Tumolva said. “No matter how challenging the job is, to me it is satisfying.”

Tumolva lives in Glendale Heights. In addition to her RN designation, Tumolva also is a critical care registered nurse (CCRN). She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Illinois Benedictine College in Lisle.
