Glendale Heights – Adventist GlenOaks Hospital donated $1,000 worth of medicine for an employee’s international mission trip. Judy Camiliere, RN, BSN, a part-time employee health nurse, traveled to Brazil on a mission organized by her church, Christ Community Church in St. Charles. Tylenol, children’s vitamins, Mucinex, and Pepto-Bismol were among the medications donated by the hospital.
The team treated 300 patients on visits to remote jungle villages along the Amazon River, traveling via houseboat from place to place. Team members also organized a vacation Bible school for the children.
Seeing firsthand God’s work in another area of the world made an impression on Camiliere, who worked at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital for 15 years before transferring to GlenOaks last year. She also appreciated worshipping God with Christians from a culture other than her own.
“The trip brought home our mission here at Adventist Midwest Health – to extend the healing ministry of Christ,” said Camiliere, a Sugar Grove resident.
It was Camiliere’s first mission trip; she plans to go on another international mission trip next year.
