Hinsdale –Adventist Hinsdale
Hospital is one of five
hospitals participating in the Chicagoland Hospital Blood Donor Center Alliance
“Fight 4 Life” whole blood and platelet donation drive. The hospitals have
joined forces to help educate the public on the critical need for whole blood
and platelet donations during the holiday season.
“Tis the season for giving and helping those in
need,” said Julie Chin Bloom, donor recruiter at Adventist
Hinsdale Hospital’s
Blood Center. “Our blood center provides the
critical link between blood donors who generously give the gift of life and the
local patients who need this lifesaving gift. We urge eligible donors to make
an appointment as soon as possible.”
Adventist Hinsdale Hospital
joins NorthShore University HealthSystem, Rush
University Medical
Center, the University of Chicago
Medical Center, and the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago in the Fight 4
Life drive. The drive began in 2005 as a friendly competition between four blood
donor centers in Chicago. It has
since grown to include five programs.
Hospital blood donor centers are a
direct resource for blood and platelets to their respective hospitals. When
platelets or blood are donated at any one of the participating hospitals blood
donor centers, it benefits that institution. Blood has a shelf life of about 42
days, but platelets – the body’s internal bandages – have a shelf life of just
five days. Every day, hundreds of patients in the Chicago area need fresh platelets from
healthy donors.
Donating blood and platelets is safe, simple and it
saves lives. Call today to schedule your appointment at Adventist
