Summary: Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital and Adventist Hinsdale Hospital hosted its annual cancer survivors day to honor cancer survivors and their families.
La Grange – More than 1,200 people attended the annual Cancer Survivors Day at Ashton Place in Willowbrook. The event featured an internationally recognized speaker, live music, and beautiful tributes to cancer survivors.
Themed “Celebration of Life,” the event was like a giant birthday party to honor each individual cancer survivor. All of the survivors received a ribbon representing how long the individual has survived cancer, which they hung on a tree.
The guest speaker, Irishman Conor Cunneen, a two-time cancer survivor, spoke about “The Gift of GAB: How Goals, Attitude, Behavior Create a Top o’ the Mornin Feeling.” Cunneen won the Chicago Humorous speaker of the year award, and is a talented business speaker and author.
Cancer survivors who attended have submitted more than 150 evaluations filled with positive comments about the event. Clarissa Moholick, regional manager, Cancer Program & Research Services said, “At the end of the event, many survivors came to personally thank us for the event. This was so meaningful for them.”
