AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Hinsdale welcomes first baby of 2016
Hinsdale – AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Hinsdale welcomed the first baby of 2016 on New Year’s Day. A girl, Stella Mary, was born to Jennifer Huda and Michael Norman of Downers Grove at 4:26 a.m., Friday, Jan. 1, 2016.
Stella weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long, and was delivered by Nurse Midwife Colleen Marotta. The parents were surprised with a beautiful gift basket from the staff to celebrate the baby’s birth. Stella will be welcomed home by an older brother Harrison, 4.
Huda’s original due date was December 26, so the couple, married for eight years, was expecting a Christmas baby, but never expected a New Year’s baby. They came to the hospital just after midnight, as fireworks were going off in the sky.
Huda, a prenatal massage therapist, said she was in labor for only seven hours, just four at the hospital before the baby’s birth. Earlier that day, she was doing CrossFit. “My motto this whole pregnancy was just keep moving,” she said. “That’s great advice to expecting moms. It really helps with the birth and recovery process.”
