AMH Names Employees of the Year

Adventist Midwest Health celebrated the accomplishments of its employees at its annual Employee of the Year luncheon February 7 at Maggiano’s restaurant in Oak Brook.

Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital named Robert Morris its Employee of the Year; Adventist Bolingbrook Medical Center named Lina Michelon; Adventist GlenOaks Hospital named Alice Esposito; and Adventist Hinsdale Hospital named Delana Rhodes.

Each employee was chosen based on their commitment to service and their willingness to help whenever needed. "You are the rock stars of this organization," said David Crane, AMH CEO. "You are the people who make our hospitals great, you put our patients first."

Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital’s honoree Robert Morris of Bolingbrook has worked in the warehouse for more than 27 years.

Colleagues praised him for his continuous contributions. "Bob always has a smile on his face. He always makes you feel like he cares about what you say to him."

Another one wrote, "Bob is a great resource to this hospital. He is always willing to help even before he is asked and never do you hear him complain about the extra work he has to do."

Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s honoree was Delana Rhodes of Hodgkins. A secretary in the surgical unit, Rhodes has worked at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital since 1972.

She was nominated by physicians and her co-workers based on her ability to balance patients’ needs with those of staff and the department. "Delana is always considerate and helpful. She always seems to know what is needed before it needs to be asked," one colleague wrote.

Adventist GlenOaks Hospital’s honoree was Alice Esposito of Bloomingdale. As the receptionist at the main desk, Esposito answers the constantly ringing telephone, sends out pages to staff and greets physicians as they enter and exit the building.

Co-workers appreciate the positive face that Esposito offers to employees, physicians and most importantly, patients and their families. "Alice represents and embodies our compassionate mission at its best," a co-worker wrote. "Whenever visitors come to our hospital, Alice immediately makes them feel welcome and special. She is a great ambassador of Adventist GlenOaks Hospital."

Adventist Bolingbrook Medical Center’s honoree was Lina Michelon of Montgomery. Michelon has worked as a charge nurse in the emergency department for the past eight years.

Co-workers nominated her because of her outstanding work ethic and her flexibility. "Lina is a great role model for the staff with her knowledge, organizational ability and her ability to remain courteous and calm even in the most trying circumstances. Her smile brightens the day of patients and co-workers alike," one co-worker wrote.
