Hinsdale – In honor of the generosity of Alfred N. Koplin and his wife Jean, Adventist Hinsdale Hospital will name its new patient pavilion the Koplin Pavilion.
Hinsdale residents for more than 50 years, the Koplins have made a gift in excess of seven figures to the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation for the new pavilion. Their contribution, the exact amount of which the family has chosen not to disclose publicly, is the largest single-gift contribution ever received by the Foundation.
“We are extremely grateful to the Koplins for their unprecedented gift and thank them for their tremendous support of the hospital and the community that it serves,” Foundation Executive Director Susan S. King said.
Opened in April of this year, AHH’s 100,000-square-foot, five-story Koplin Pavilion includes 261 spacious, private patient rooms. Units are designed to place caregivers closer to patient bedsides with modern workstations, improving patient privacy.
Other pavilion hallmarks include a new critical care unit, surgical services department, a new chapel and a bright and spacious lobby.
The hospital’s nursing program has also benefitted from the Koplin family’s generosity through the establishment of the Koplin Scholars program and their support of the hospital’s pursuit of credentialing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
“The Koplins’ gift is a reflection of a true philanthropist’s belief in the future,” Adventist Midwest Health President and CEO David L. Crane said. “Al and Jean have ensured access to the best possible care in a setting that will serve our community well for years to come.”
