Still Missed Pregnancy & Newborn Loss Parent Support Program

Still Missed is a support program designed to help parents cope with the devastating grief of losing a baby.

Parents who experience pregnancy loss from miscarriage, stillbirth, or newborn death can find it to be an extremely painful and lonely experience. Well-meaning family and friends may not completely understand their reactions and may not know the best ways to offer support.

Someone to Walk Beside You

As part of the Still Missed Program, an understanding and trained staff is available to those who have recently experienced the death of a baby. After the hospital stay, a member of the Still Missed staff follows up to see how the family is doing, both emotionally and physically. Our goal is to help parents find positive ways to cope and ultimately resolve feelings of grief. The Still Missed program offers:

  • Trained, experienced counseling staff
  • Support for the entire family – parents, children and grandparents
  • Monthly parent support group
  • Quarterly grandparent support group
  • Quarterly Spanish-speaking parent support group
  • Monthly support group for those facing subsequent pregnancy after loss
  • Lending library of grief materials
  • Opportunity to help parents feel less alone and better understand feelings of loss
  • Opportunity for you to help others in your community work through similar experiences
  • Annual memorial remembrance service
  • Memorial garden

Resources for Dealing with Children's Grief

Learn more about children's grief and dealing with loss from Cathy R. Blanford, a Bereavement Counselor with the Still Missed program. Cathy's book, "Something Happened," is a great resource on pregnancy loss for both parents and children. Her second book, "My Baby Big Sister," is a book especially for children who were born subsequent to a pregnancy loss or infant death. This book will help with the confusion these children often experience when they learn about the baby who died before they were born.
