Patient Navigators Provide Guiding Hand Through Cancer Journey
Cancer is one of the scariest words you might ever hear. Whether it’s you, a family member or a friend who has received this news, a cancer diagnosis is extremely frightening.
Through the Adventist Cancer Network, patients have a unique resource to help them find their way through the health care system – patient navigators.
Patient navigators not only serve as patient advocates and educators, but also help patients regain a sense of control while they find the strength to heal. They provide resources to patients and their families, serve as a liaison between the patient and physician and offer emotional support.
Our patient navigators for breast cancer are certified by the National Consortium of Breast Centers. They provide a unique level of understanding about this disease – many of them are breast cancer survivors themselves.
Here For You Every Step of the Way
From education to support to resources, patient navigators are here to provide you with individual support, including:
- Assistance with appointment scheduling, from mammograms to biopsies, including same-day and procedures needed immediately
- Working with your physicians to make sure you understand your diagnosis, your options and your plan of care
- Answering your questions and gathering requested information
- Connecting you with resources, from emotional and social resources, transportation to appointments, or financial services.
