"The only true gift is a portion of thyself." – Ralph Waldo Emerson
It takes exceptional people to give freely of their valuable time and talents to help others. Adventist Hinsdale Hospital needs exceptional people, like you, to join its team of volunteers.
Volunteers are an important part of Adventist Hinsdale Hospital's staff because they help ensure every patient and visitor has the best possible experience here. The volunteer program, founded during the polio epidemic of the 1950s, is rich in tradition while remaining open to new ideas and concepts.
A Call for Volunteers
Volunteer positions for college students and adults are available mainly during daytime hours Monday through Friday. A limited number of evening and weekend slots are available. Junior volunteer positions, for high school students, are available after school and on weekends. We strive to balance the individual volunteer’s interests and availability with the needs of the hospital.
Every effort is made to make sure our volunteers will have a positive and rewarding experience. We offer our volunteers many benefits, including an annual celebration and recognition event, as well as inclusion in the hospital’s annual employee outing. Get started today by filling out an application.
Who Can Volunteer?
We invite anyone interested in sharing in our mission to serve our community to be a volunteer at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. Additionally, we require that volunteers:
- be at least 14 years old and have completed 8th grade,
- be physically able to carry out their duties,
- commit to a regular schedule of two to four hours a week for a minimum of six months,
- provide proof of immunizations and take an annual tuberculosis test, and
- attend all training and in-service sessions as required by the Volunteer Department.
